Summer waves skimmerplus filter pump w/22×52 above ground pool

Hello TFP family,

I could really use your help. I purchased a 22×52 above ground summer waves pool. I ordered a summer waves skimmerplus filter pump. My pool did not come with a pre-made skimmer hole. How do I install the skimmer if it doesn't have screws to attach prior to cutting? Or is it even possible to use that particular skimmer with that particular pool?

Hey there.... I went to Google- Which model number did you buy?

From what I can tell its just a screw on threaded cover to the skimmer inlet. Usually a small penknife then cuts the vinyl away on most brands of skimmer. Have you checked to see if there is a place marked for the skimmer?

It's model #4AO2252B. I did check for an outline or opening, there weren't either. Yes the skimmer plus is just the screw on type.

Ok, well Googling the Summer Waves 22x52 round pool I see it only comes with the intended soft tubes going in and out of the ground level pump/filter. Soooooo.... you're on your own as far as adding a skimmer. You can use the basic directions on Youtube for the brand skimmer you bought. Look at the Intex directions. That pump/filter are teeny so I hope they have the ooomph to feed a skimmer? A lot of folks who start with that equipment upgrade down the road to bigger equipment later on.

Sidenote- place the equipment out of view from the house for a nicer siteline. Helps keep the little kids from messing with it also.

Welcome to the forum! There is so much info to be learned here about great, easy pool care! (those words a rarely strung together anywhere else!!)

Personally I think upgrading to freestanding pump & filter for that size pool will be much more enjoyable in the long-run!

For installing the thru-wall skimmers on our VINYL WALL pools, you will want to fill the pool with water, to the bottom level of the skimmer mouth, so the vinyl is stretched into place before cutting!!
