Anyone use a product like 303 Marine to keep their top caps looking new and protecting from the sun? Necessary or waste of time? I put a coat on last weekend and it seems to help keep it clean and also easier to clean.

I put it on mine a couple times every season - not sure how much of a difference it has made in longevity. Mine already look dried out. I am in my 3rd season w/ this pool & they have looked that way since the end of the 1st season.
I use it on my hot tub cover too & it looks great (it’s outside but under the patio).
I am thinking of trying something else on the pool just not sure what. My ivory/light beige top rails also have some staining, like little mildewed spots that won’t come off which I assume is from the winter & being covered.

I haven’t used anything on mine… interested to see how yours does. Can you post a photo of what it looks like with the sealant?

Kelly- it just soaks right in on mine. No real difference after a couple minutes. It does help the water bead up a little. It may be different for shinier top rails.

The 303 Marine product doesn't add any gloss or sheen to the top resin but does make the color appear slightly darker for a few days before it wears off. The water does bead up though so I think it's working however it doesn't seem to last long - maybe about a week or two.

I think I'll try Meguiars Ultimate Quik wax today and see how it goes. Have used this on the car plastics and it works great. There is no gloss and it's more of a matte finish.

I'll see if I can get a few photos for a side by side comparison

hmmmmmmmmm, you all know I love some DIY.... Has anyone heard of Ceramic coating.. It is used on cars to block UV, acid rain, water, you name it.. It is actually a layer on top of whatever you put it on... water beads right off it... It stays on for years, some 5 to 10 years... some are very expensive and some like what I put on my wheels are not expensive at all..

You will need to do some prep work... Like 95% of it is prep work.. You will need to polish the surface to get all contaminants off like salt and water spots or 303 or anything else that has been applied... once it is prepped you can apply the ceramic coating.. Once the coating is on its on, if there was anything on the panel when the ceramic is applied it will be there forever or until you polish it again...

This is what I used on my wheels, it is enough to do a small car in 1 or 2 coats.. not sure how much you would need to do your panels..

So, Who is feeling brave and would like to try it out... :)

Here is what it takes to do it on a car.. The fisrt part of this video shows 1 step, that is all you would need to take off all the stuff on the panels..

Then you would apply the ceramic coating

I’m gonna sit back and wait for someone else to be the guinea pig! LOL
