Which Dolphin for my fiberglass pool?

My biggest concern is that it be able to climb the walls, up over the ledge found in most fiberglass pools, to scrub the waterline. My pool has steps in each corner and a small tanning ledge. I understand the cleaner will likely not clean the tops stairs and tanning ledge.

Marina Pools recommended the M400. Two local stores recommended the S300i. Marina's recommendation was that the M400 would maneuver the pool better, while the others recommended the 300i for style of the filter basket.

Thought I'd come here and ask the experts! Thanks!

What shape is your pool? The M series is better for complex shapes like Ls, freeforms, or anything else that isn't a rectangle. Also better if you have main drains/returns, because the active brush makes it near impossible to get stuck on them.

If you have just a plain rectangle, the S300i would be fine. It has a higher filter capacity than the M series cleaners and is definitely easier to clean. It's just not as smart or maneuverable.

As an owner of both a traditional float-handled Dolphin and an S300-series. Both navigate my kidney-shaped pool equally well. The tile line brushing action on the S300 is especially good.

For the OP, stairs are not a strong suit for any automatic cleaner. I generally give them a quick brushing to dislodge dirt before I start my cleaning cycle.
