Hi I’m Jeff. I bought my first pool last summer. It is a 30’ AGP, holding 21K. I bought it from Watson’s and it has the Aqua Smarte system, sadly. It has a cartridge filter and variable speed pump. The system seemed to work fairly well last year, but it was certainly pricey to use the proprietary cartridges and seemingly even more so with more things to purchase this year. So I started to do some research and found this forum and I talked with a local pool guy that is a friend’s neighbor. He suggests to switch to a sand filter and use an off-line chlorinator. I’ve read here that a SWG is recommended, but my family wants to avoid the saltwater. He also suggests using boride in the water, stating reduced irritation. I need opinions as I am currently preparing to open the pool in the next 2 weeks. Thanks
