Dolphin S300i swivel cable replacement, has anyone transferred the swivel itself to a new lower cost non-swivel cable?

Hi all,
I bought this unit in 2018, and the cable seems to need replacement often. Other than the blue flaking off which I don't really mind, you eventually lose iPhone App to Pool Robot functionality due to cable degradation (as noted to me by a tech at marina pool and spa).
IIRC the bluetooth controller for the dolphin is in the cable so when the cable is compromised you can't talk to the robot via BT anymore.
I went ahead and had the company replace my cable a few years ago and that solved the bluetooth phone app issue. Well I think I'm there again, except this time I want to do the replacement myself and not send in the bot.
The non-swivel cable is ~$100 (MAY99958885-DIY) and the swivel cable replacement is ~$200 (MAY99958906-DIY).

I'd love to buy the non-swivel model and splice in my swivel to it and save a 100 bucks. Has anyone gone down this path and tried it out?
