Brand new Pentair SuperFlo VST noise on startup

When the pump initially starts, it makes a high pitched buzzing noise for a second or two while the motor is still stopped, and then the motor spins up to full speed and runs perfectly fine indefinitely until I turn it off. When I turn it off and the motor slows down, I sometimes hear the same noise. The noise is definitely not normal, and I am worried it is indicative of a pending failure.

I have verified the impeller spins freely and there are no obstructions within the pump (not even air bubbles). The pump is brand new, and I even exchanged it for a *different* SuperFlo VST pump yet the issue remains. Wired to 230V. I'm confident I'm installing it correctly.

Is this a failing capacitor? Do SuperFlo VST pumps typically experience motor drive issues? Pentair customer support has not been helpful. Any help much appreciated :)

That startup squeal is normal. Lots of Pentair pumps seem to do it.
