We're happy with the protect-a-child fence we've had for about a year.

Welkom Tom! Nice to have another Belgian! I'm from West-Vlaanderen and moved to the US in the late 90s. You've just stumbled upon an amazing resource.

A Houston Pool Build Inside the Loop

Your patio is beautiful and the line dividing the new section from the old looks very natural. It's been an amazing year and we've been swimming throughout the winter! I've decided that 65F is about as cold as I can stand..and only when the sun is out :-) The pool has been around 77F all week...

New pool build in Houston, TX

Denise, We used light walnut honed travertine tiles for the waterline. At first, I was hesitant to use a natural stone in the water, but our PB has been using it successfully for a long time here in Houston. We looked at porcelain tiles that looked like travertine but the real stone ended up...

A Small Pool is a Good Pool.....The Woodlands, TX

I remember your beautiful pool. It inspired us when we designed our own project. Glad you're still enjoying your 'little' pool :)

    Pool Remodel in Jacksonville, FL

The glass tile is beautiful. We used NPT's Arctic Lagoon tile. My only regret is not having more of it or going with LightStream. Both your Blue Steel and Suz's Peacock tile are amazing. Can't wait to see pictures with water.

Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

We also have an easement in the back, and we wanted the largest pool possible in the space we had available. Our designs ended up being rectangular. All PBs we interviewed mentioned that pricing is based on perimeter linear feet (LF). The gunite company here charges dramatically more once 115LF...

Spa or no spa? If yes, raised or flush?

Our spa is level with the pool and this is not an issue. Anything that ends up in the spa immediately goes into the pool because the spa acts like a giant skimmer. The spa is always clean.

A Houston Pool Build Inside the Loop

We love our in floor system (PCC2000). It doesn't run that much for the energy cost to be an issue, but it keeps the pool clean. No robots to deal with, and I love being able to mix the water quickly after adding chemicals. It also keeps the water at a uniform temperature throughout the pool.

    New Build In Simi Valley

Ours is 38" from floor to waterline, and the benches are 18" and 21" to the waterline. We don't have a step. To decide on our bench depths, we had our family members sit on a chair and we used a measuring tape to determine where the waterline would reach.

New Pool Build - Conroe, TX - LOTS of pics! Come say hi Y'all.

Yes..the spigot works until the container is empty. Opening the white cap at the top allows air to enter the container to keep the flow going.

I also get chlorine at Napco Chemical. They sell 10% strength for $1.68/gallon. They ask that you bring your own container with an opening large enough to accommodate their nozzle. I also have two of the 7 gallon containers that ozdiver uses and that lasts me more than a month. Our 15K pool eats...

    Interviewing Builders in Cypress, Texas

Our pool was built by the PB you talked to today. We skipped the UV/Ozone but kept the PCC2000. According to Paramount, the PB is one of Paramount's most experienced and successful installers of the PCC2000 system nationally. The system works as designed and it's awesome. No robots in the pool...

That will be a nice pool! Thanks for sharing. We're very happy with our PCC-2000. The system works as advertised and keeps the floor spotless. I also like to run the system to stir up the water quickly after adding chemicals. I agree with what Jaybauman wrote about his IFC recently: My...

    New pool owner in TX

Welcome to TFP! From your signature, it looks like you're using the same PB as we did. I was fortunate enough to find this forum before we started construction. Our PB also had the UV/ozone in their proposal. When we asked them to remove those items from our proposal, they did so without...

New pool build in Houston, TX

Our pool water warmed up into the low 90s, and it was time to experiment with a PVC fountain. It's amazing how well it works. The water was down to 85F last night.

    Suz's new pool tests

Pebble Tec startup procedures follow the National Plaster Council guidelines which recommend adding 30-50ppm CYA through the skimmer after the 4th day. Being new here myself and willing to learn, why is adding CYA per the NPC guidelines an issue?

    Suz's new pool tests

During this kind of Houston weather, your chlorine gets used quickly if you don't have any CYA in your pool. You'll be going through a lot of chlorine (or tabs) until the CYA gets up. Using pucks, it will take weeks for the CYA to raise. I doubt your PB understands the CYA/FC relationship. Most...

    Suz's new pool tests

I agree on trichlor pucks lowering pH as they are acidic. ITR stated earlier that trichlor pucks will bring up CH. This is incorrect. I think ITR meant CYA. A 3" trichlor puck is 8oz in weight but will not add 8oz of CYA as pucks are not pure stabilizer. According to PoolMath, each 8oz puck...
