    First 6 Months Observation

I do a water change every 3 months. I just did it two days ago and I also always notice a big difference in the clarity of the water right after a change.

    Bromine is always high

If you aren't using the spa then shocks are not necessary. Just keep your Br level above 4. It’s odd that tabs alone with a closed floater are keeping your Br levels this high. What test kit are your using?

    Bromine is always high

What is “high”? Can you post your actual bromine levels? I’d suggest either turning the floater down or even just removing it for a couple days at a a time. You could also just open the lid during the daytime. UV will breakdown bromine as well.

Best and easy way to clean hot tub filters?

I just spray mine out once a week with the hose. Every 3 months at water change time, I soak it in chemical cleaner and use my 2nd filter that was cleaned prior and ready for use. This way Im cycling between two filters.

    pH Insanity!

You can pick it up at any box hardware store. We only need ounces for a hot tub but i couldn’t buy it any smaller quantities than twin 1g bottles. So I have enough for about 3 lifetimes in my garage. lol

    pH Insanity!

Instead of the pH down product, have you tried just using muratic acid to drop the Alk down to the 50-60ppm range after a fresh fill?

Clorox Pool & Spa Shock(4in1 Formula)

You’d need to test your FC level to determine if it’s safe to get in.

Polymeric Hot tub, what are my levels

pH: 7.2 - 7.8 Alk: 50+ (Really depends on what your pH is. If running the Alk at 70 gives you a pH in the good range than that is good for Alk) CH: Most reccommend 120 - 150. My water out of the tap is super soft. It reads 0 CH right out of the tap. I add enough calcium chloride to bump it...

Strong 'skin sensitivity' reaction to Bromine hot tub. How to do a bathtub test for a “Chlorine” reaction?

I'd like to know more about why you dislike it. I haven't found a downside using it in my spa yet. More information is great!

Very good information guys. Learned more about O3 today!

    Bullfrog hot tub

They do make ozone detectors. You can rent them from this company. I've actually thought about renting their more expensive low detection range devices as I have an UV/ionizer/plasma generator in my house HVAC system and I want to make sure it isn't generating ozone in my house air ducts. I...

    Bullfrog hot tub

I'm neither of these guys but to give you some more data points, I have a Hotspring Relay with an ozonator and no recirc pump. Pump #1 for me runs twice a day in 2 hour increments (4 hours total) so similar to what you stated above.. The ozonater comes on only when pump #1 turns on. I run a...

What amount of hot tub water loss from normal use is considered in an acceptable range?

I add 5 - 10 gallons weekly as well. I like to have the water high and the kids tend to splash water out a bit.

Cloudy/milky particles after jets run - bromine tub

Looks like detergent foam. When we first got our tub we made the mistake of washing our suits. Anytime we used the jets the surface turned into a bubble bath. Now we never wash them. Keeps detergent out of the spa completely. How many tablets do you put in? I put a maximum of 4 in my Pentair...

    Unknown substance floating in tub

Looks like what would form on my saltwater aquarium heater elements and pumps over time: calcium precipitation. What are your ALK and CH levels. Is it hard?

Bromine drop after long soak normal?

After playing with it for a few more days, I think it was just that very long soak combined with 4 people that dropped the Br level to .5ppm from ~4ppm. Especially when the floater was taken out. What I did the next day after we did another soak was just add about 1tsp of oxidizer (dichlor)...

    Any experiences with hot tubs?

You can get them cheaper than that of course. A rotomolded (e.g. Freeflow) but will be around the $6k - $7k mark. Our Hotspring Relay was just under $10k out the door delivered to the house as they were willing to haggle a bit on the price. The wife and kids use it more than me. They are...

Bromine drop after long soak normal?

Hello, Fresh fill 3 step bromine spa started last week. Yesterday was the first day we had been able to use it since fresh fill (used Ahh-Some to clean it really well). Prior to using the spa yesterday, levels (tested several hours before with Taylor K-2106) were as follows: Br - 5 ppm Alk -...

    Poolmath and Bromine

Yup. I think we are saying the same thing. Haha! Whatever the increase in Br I want, I divide it by 2 (or 2.25 if you want to be exact) to get the dose of FC equivalent. Converted my 350g spa over to a 3-step bromine tub so I’ve been working on getting a system down for startup and then...

    Poolmath and Bromine

I know the PoolMath calculator on the TFP website doesn’t calculate bromine levels via adding dichlor as the oxidizer. But can’t I simply divide the amount I want to raise the Br by 2.25 to determine the amount of dichlor I need to add to the spa? For example, if I want to raise my bromine...
