    Liner came out!

People that did quality work in the first place, then stand behind it get future no bid jobs from me. I mean. They have to quote me, I have to agree and sign it, but I'm going to accept it no matter what it is. This was not their fault and something that happens. But for $40 you...

Chlorine, CYA, and PH levels with a heat pump

That's like asking Ford if they think you should drive a Chevy or a Ford. :ROFLMAO: Manufacturers follow generic industry levels that haven't been updated since the 80s or 90s. We evolved with the times. One big difference is the industry believing that there is no CYA / FC...

    Chloromax

Hey Pool King and Welcome !!!!! With no foaming, you're fine. You're fine if you *do* get foaming too, it's just an annoyance that ironically takes a bunch of non polymered chlorine to get rid of. We have no idea what everyone's threshold is, but with enough additive laden bleach...

    Liner came out!

Point it out on the many that you know are healthy liners. Obviously don't go out of your way on a bleached and brittle mess. I fully believe they should be fairly paid, just that already being on-site doesn't make it an expensive task. And if you're already fixing one as above, (and...

    Jandy Pro CS200

Stuff happens anywhere and with anything. The wrong filters came inside my pentair cartridge, from pentair. They had the wrong factory stamp in the rubber, but the sticker was correct, so pentair deemed it was a defective filter and replaced the whole thing. Anywho, OEMs get it wrong...

    CHLOR Low Salt Chlorinator1 Error

Hey Spirit and Welcome !!!! Some of our experts are all but psychic knowing that that error code is specific to XYZ. But for the rest of us, how about listing your automation and SWG model #s ? Please take a moment and fill out your signature with all relevant pool details and equipment...

    First time with pool opening

That's only part of the equation. Which ICXX do you have ? (Finish filling out your signature a little more specific :)) What's your runtime ? Where are you located ? I've never heard of '7' before. :poke::ROFLMAO: All 3 can make a huge difference in output for 32k gallons. Well any...

    First time with pool opening

for 2 reasons : 1) algae is microscopic and you can't see it until it's way, way, too late. 2) SLAM target FC is 12 at 30 CYA and 28 FC at 70 CYA for SWGs. It is a costly error in both funds and effort trying to maintain a higher slam target. You'd really, really. Like to know for a...

salt calculations are off... but not sure why

Small doses are trickier with a +/-200 test variance. The 1st test may have been -200 and the 2nd test +200. Both are considered correct enough. Then factor the human element making perfect sample volume and drops. Good job letting it mix for a full day. Stupendous JOB realizing you...

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! *PICS THREAD*

I let the girls paint my nails when they were little, then wore them to work the next day. You don't say no to little girls so long as nobody gets hurt. Period. But yeah. As a big dude, nobody said boo about it. :)

Featured New Fill - Balance Chemicals

Check the thread I posted above. Use an actual sock or similar, carrot on a stick like in front of a working return. Some time later, or even tomorrow it'll squish right out. Brush well after. Count it as being added for FC dosing as soon as it's hanging. Give the MA 20 minutes to...

    fire fighting

Do your homework of course, but this comes up with a quick googling and I'm sure many more do as well. High volume nozzle with hose You could modify your existing backwash setup or plumb in a dedicated valve.

They advise you to add it to your skimmer where it'll get trapped in the skimmer and not allow you to backwash / clean the filter for a week. It also may clog your plumbing if you dump the bag too fast, as most would do. We don't ever advise putting acid through your equipment, and prefer...

    Stabilizer

I used to cut the sleeves off a long sleeve tshirt for a large 'sock' with a large pool. I had one to donate most years anyway. Then I got the bright idea to pour a giant pile on the chest of the shirt and tie it up like a roast or a hobo stick and get to reuse the shirt year after year...

My reply to a thread about borates was deleted... Am I off the mark?

My goodness boblobkaw. You're entirely right. It points to a long discussion from 2008 that ended almost 10 years ago. The discussion continued, but not there. Thanks for pointing it out. Science and the world in general has come a long way since the forum's inception and it seems...

Is a pool refill best option in my case?

If you dont care about your CYA value, as the industry largely doesnt, then a vague reference is ok. So what if you guessed 40 one way or the other ? The are a cornerstone of TFP and it doesn't work unless we have CYA to a 10.

    Liner longevity question

UV certainly is way worse in AZ than it is in Maine, but where we have friendlier UV, we also have lots of cold, and possible tanked PHs for the winter. Both can take their toll as well. But chemistry plays the biggest factor IMO and 'dump and pray' industry advice is a sure fire way to...

    Liner came out!

It should be standard on every install, or professionally maintained pool IMO. The service folks pop pieces back in here and there all the gol darn time. They're already on site for the weekly cleaning and 4 mins of labor isn't a cash cow. Nor will $30 break the builders profit, and he...

Featured Am I Using the FAS/DPD Correctly?

Realizing your point in the season is critical too. For something so simple, it escapes many. With the exception of an occasional whoopsie week, FC loss more or less fits a schedule and it helps you set appropriate targets when you factor the *when* along with the *how much*. This is...

Pre pool opening (white water mold)

A set schedule is a pool store, one size fits all kinda thing. In some instances like this one, it doesn't hurt, but it's also not necessary more times than not. We use 25% psi increases to be specific to your system, your environment and the specific point in the season. 25% could be...

Need Help with Inconsistent FC Reading

None of us are a machine. The sample sizer helps with the volume, but you still have to nail repeated drops, which gets harder the higher the FC, especially during high CYA slams. Did you really make 56 perfect drops ? Every last one ? :ROFLMAO: If given the choice, I will take...

Pre pool opening (white water mold)

Which filter do you have ? It's $27 for 50 lbs at Ace, maybe a little more for pool store markup although I'd hope he cuts you a break at least. Either way, it won't break the bank with him providing the labor. 200lbs would be $120 at the regular store, 300 lbs would be $175

    Liner came out!

Massage it back into place from either end towards the middle. The friction from your fingers will probably warm it enough to stretch the little bit it needs. Then buy 120ft of liner lock and wrap the whole pool. (Under $30 on Amazon). It takes 5 mins to push in by hand and if there's any...
