Hello everyone!

I am at my wits end, please help!

Our pump is new. Our filter cartridge is new.
We have suction, pump is primed, however we have almost no return flow. Its not a clog, I suspect the problem is exclusively the filter. I can feel the pipes rushing water into the filter, and almost no flow out of the filter. What else can I do?

Hey AC and Welcome !!!

Run without the cartridge and see if it's fixed. That'll prove it to the cartridge.

Did it work, even for a short time when you replaced the filter ? If it didn't work brand new, it's defective. If it worked for a bit and you lost flow, it's algae.

If it doesn't run without the cartridge either, then you have a valve closed down stream.

How do you test ?

Why did you replace the cartridge ? For this reason ?

Ya I thought it might be a dirty cartridge. Doesnt build pressure without the cartridge either. We turned on our new pump and 2/3 jets were working fairly strong, and now nothing. Also theres little to no suction from the skimmer now. Pump is primed

Why do you say its not a clog? This sounds like the definition of a clog. Its just a matter of finding it.

If your filter pressure is at zero, theres a blockage between the pump and filter.

Check the pump impeller. When mine gets badly clogged with pine needles it stops everything up and drops filter pressure in a big way

Its a Dohenys 1 HP. Dont judge me for the off brand, we just replaced it because for cheap because I really didn’t think our old pump was the issue
It's not my brand, but I totally respect there are a million of them in service, chugging away without issue. :)

Well without the filter you wouldn't see much pressure but you would see flow.

But with no little/no flow and with the filter removed, it rules out algae as the main cause, and also backwards plumbing at the filter.

Start us from scratch.

You had this problem, replaced the cartridge and pump and still have the problem ?

Is the pump wired for 110 or 220 ?

What size was your old pump ?

Does the filter gague register anything at all ?

Are you running high or low speed ?
