Hello, recently purchased a new home to me with a sta rite s8m150 filter. Found a set locally at a very good price but the filters seem to be for a S8M500 filter. Question is, will they fit? I realize that they have a higher filtration rate which might not be a bad thing? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey Gus and Welcome !!! I feel you on getting cheaper filters. They're insanely priced for Sta-Rite.

The best I can tell, they discontinued or are discontinuing the s8m500. The few that have them appear to be old stock retailers. (Think TJ Maxx but for pools. Lol). Again, this is just my hunch but the several times I looked them up last season until now, none of the big players were selling them.

Anywho, if the housing is the same specs, the carts will fit. Helping a member last year with similar I asked a question on Pentairs main website and they replied 3 days later that those 2 were interchangeable. Go ask and they'll get back to you somewhat reasonably. The S8M150 is for 450 sq ft instead of 500 so it's a fair possibility.

@InyoRich may have thoughts too.

Go for it! The S8M500 filters will fit, as both filter models use the same filter body. These are nice filters and were a good idea, but those cartridges are really expensive.
