Just purchased a house with a pool for first time- the pump had been running for the first few weeks and when I cut it off for the first time to clean the basket at the pump, it never wouldn’t come back on- not sure what to do next. Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

How did you cut off the pump?

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it?

Check if you have 230V between L1 and L2 at the pump.

So, until AJW22 gets back lets do this.

Please fill out your signature it is very helpful , then everyone here will know what equipment you have.

Do your have any automation?
Picture of automation and breaker box(S). Very helpful.
You may be test for line voltage at sub panel, automation , or L1- L2 @ at the pump.
Please wait on AWJ for trouble shooting steps and if your not comfortable testing power please speak up.

Thanks again! I’ll update this evening with info and more pictures- I know have a Pentair Single Speed 1.25. There is automation but I’m pretty sure it was on manual running nonstop since we purchased about 3 weeks ago.

I have never tested power before- but think I could figure out with some online tutorials and have folks that can help teach.

Thank you so much! I turned off at the breaker since I didn’t know what I was doing 😀.

I don’t have a voltage meter, but I can get one, would I check at the capacitor?

Circuit breakers are not designed to be switches.

You mention you have automation. Post pics of all your pool equipment and your automation panel.

First step is to see if the circuit breaker failed to turn back on by checking voltage at the pump.

Getting near live voltage can be dangerous. Do not do anything you are not sure is safe. It is better to be safe and get a qualified electrician to check your circuit breaker and pump.

Here are the pics as they stand now- they have a salt filter the prior owners said didn’t work and it clearly isn’t salt water in the pool. Thanks again!

Test the salt level to know. All chlorine pools have some level of salt unless all the water was recently exchanged.
That is an old rebranded aquarite.
If you decide to investigate it here’s some info to get you started.

You should be turning the pump on and off using the red lever under the left side timer, assuming it is properly wired as labeled, and not the circuit breaker.

Both of your timer wheels are missing the ON trippers to make them operational. Read Timers - Further Reading
