    High pressure, New equipment?

Motor current is determined by load only. Every motor uses the same current spinning the same impeller.

    High pressure, New equipment?

If your pump is available in smaller HP ratings, you can install a smaller impeller and reduce both filter pressure and electricity consumption.

    Large air pocket after prime

Welcome to TFP! It could be several things. To give you good answers, we need a little more info about your pool. Inground/Above ground? Filter type? How many skimmers or drains? Is your filter pressure gauge reading normal? If high, it could indicate a dirty filter or other restriction which...

Chlorine all gone after 1 day

Welcome to TFP! 4.2ppm is about right. Gallon of 10% will raise the FC of 10,000 gallons of water by about 10ppm. Multiply the water volume by 2.5 and that gives an increase of about 4ppm. CYA reduces chlorine loss to sunlight. A just opened pool will likely consume chlorine pretty fast as...

    Water turned green after shock

Welcome to TFP! I agree it’s likely iron. You might find Stains in Your Pool helpful.

SLAM in progress but pool won't hold chlorine

Welcome to TFP! How long are you waiting to retest and how are you testing? Algae can consume chlorine very fast.

    Ph is very high

It sounds like a testing issue due to high chlorine. I’d just wait and test again when the chlorine is more reasonable.

Really struggling to hold FC this year

Your overnight loss may be skewed some since you had a couple of hours of daylight after your evening reading and before your morning reading. Don’t know what your shading situation is. If there is a contaminant in the pool, increasing to SLAM level will accelerate the clean up.

    Ph is very high

What color is the pH test? pH almost never gets above 8.2 without aggressive chemical additions that you’d never do in a pool. The acid demand test result is determined more by TA level than other factors. What pH test kit are you using? The pH test is affected by higher chlorine levels, and...

    The Mystery

Welcome to TFP! I think it’s almost certain that your skimmer weir is sticking closed or your pool water level is too low. In operation, water has to flow into the skimmer as fast as it flows out. The pump isn’t going to speed up, so water flow has to have slowed down.

CH dropping in a Cal Hypo pool

It’s really the only possibility. Calcium doesn’t leave the water with evaporation or chemical processes other than scaling which would be obvious. What’s your rate of tablet consumption? Cal-hypo is notorious for clogging feeders. I’d want to check the pH of the fill water to see if it’s the...

CH dropping in a Cal Hypo pool

Welcome to TFP! The obvious answer would seem to be a leak with an automatic filler.

    Sand or algae?

Don’t assume it’s from the filter. Poolside decking, pavers or soil can add sand to the pool.

PH test starts off at 7.4 then continually rises to well above 8

PH testing and alkalinity testing are both affected by high chlorine levels. It’s best not to fool with adjusting them while the chlorine is at SLAM level. Cloudiness comes from the cal hypo
