Yikes! Splash-less bleach, or what did I just pour in my pool!!?

So I grabbed a bottle of Clorox bleach off our laundry shelf, one that my wife bought this morning as I had run out of the usual 10% stuff. As I finished broadcasting it, I noticed islands of foam throughout both the spa and pool (!!!). "I better NOT have just poured detergent!" I thought as I panicked. So I looked closer and the Clorox container is labeled "Splash-less Bleach", containing sodium hypochlorite (good) and sodium hydroxide (?) - no percentages or other ingredients listed. Wiki says it's also called lye or caustic soda, so can I just compensate by measuring and adjusting for pH?

What can I do to get rid of the foam "islands"?

Thanks in advance.

The foam will dissipate with time. Never use Splash-less or Cloromax or scented. All of them have polymers in them.

Watch your filter pressure as it may gum it up, but not likely with that small amount added.

Take care.

If you can net any of the foam out, that will help as that's less that needs to break down. Otherwise don't do anything special unless testing calls for it, such as pH adjustments. Make sure to check your FC as splash-less bleach is usually weaker strength than regular.

And of course, watch your labels in the future :p

I knew to stay away from the scented stuff. They were easy to recognize with the additional colors on the label. This splashless stuff appeared, at a glance, like the standard Clorox. I was just never aware of this variety. But I now know better now!

You bet I will! :)

Update: Foam has now dissipated eight hours later. Weird "slimy" water surface is rapidly returning to normal.

Whew! I had horrific visions of a Wisconsin Dells-style Xanadu foam house rising from my pool.

Thanks, all! :)
