After three years with an 18’ round Intex pool, I’m upgrading to a 21’ x 43’ Wilbar Diamond Star pool. The grading required to get the yard prepped was the hard part, and due to a knee injury everything got set back, but I’m just about to the point of being ready to put up the wall.
On my Intex pool I did 3/4” foam board underneath it and was very happy. I had been planning to do the same with this one but I’m having second thoughts. Had anyone use foam board on a pool this big? It wouldn’t be going under the whole pool, so presumably I’d have to put up the wall, then level with a little sand, then install the foam inside the wall?I am thinking it would take a really long time to get it all cut and taped and everything, the 18’ was bad enough. How big of a risk is it to leave the pool wall up without water? I know wind can destroy it and that is a big concern.
Any experience, tips, suggestions? I will probably have more questions.
I tentatively have someone scheduled to help with the liner install but I’m not sure if I will be able to coordinate it so I can get the wall up and ready without having it get wrecked before he comes.
