Having trouble deciding between Pebble Sheen Blue Surf or Blue Granite. Any input is great. Not much Blue Surf in our area to look at (outside Houston). But everyone says Blue Granite is very gray.

Hole is dug, re barb is in, plumbers coming tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to TFP!!

I have Blue Granite. I like it a lot. Most pools show different shades or variations of the color at different times of the day depending on the sun and clouds. Mine often has tints of green. Yes, the plaster is definitely on the gray side. So my sun shelf, and upper steps look very gray, but I like it.

I've never seen the blue surf in person. Those who have it, love it.

Are you going to start your own pool build thread? We'd love to see what you're doing!

Take care!
Suz

I have Blue Surf, or Blue Smurf as it's affectionately known around here, and also love it. Suz is correct when she says BG is grayer. The best thing to do would be to go see both. If you want to make the drive all the way down here near the Med Center, you are certainly welcome to see mine.

Suz, you are welcome to come too! :D

Thanks, Marla!! The heat is really bugging me this year, and our summer is even relatively mild so far. I venture out to the pool, and that's about it!

We didn't go see a bunch in person but looked at a lot of pics from the PB. We opted for Blue Surf to get the more blue color on the shallow areas, tanning ledge and bench. The PB had Blue Granite in the showroom pool and it was very gray on the shallow areas whereas the Blue Surf was a lot more blue on the shallow areas.

Is anyone able to post their pics of Blue Granite here also? I am about to make the same decision, but between Blue Granite and our pool builders own product. A lot of the Blue Granite pictures are gone. :)
The color varies depending on how sunny it is, and obviously the enclosure likely has a bit of an effect on the color as well. We could not be happier with it. It is exactly what we were wanting.

This is beautiful! I really like the grey on the shelf, but I won't have pretty bubbler on mine :(. I also have a good amount of shade for a lot of the day, so hoping that will work out. I think I am going to add the luminous and abalone. Thank you for posting!

I love the color of your water in the pictures and feel that pretty much solidifies my choice. But, have to ask, I read where you said during mid day 12:30-4:30, you weren't really loving that water at that time. Do you still feel that way or was it possibly the chemistry at the time? I know that will be the time of day when we are mostly out there and the only time my pool will get direct sun.

Thank you, and I'm glad you asked about the mid day color. That's now one of my favorite colors when the sun is directly overhead. And the water sparkles like crazy. You will be amazed how much the color changes and apparently over the years! Lol!!! There are just a few times (not daily) when it's cloudy or the water is too still when it looks a little too green or dirty. That could be my surroundings with plants and trees, etc. There are times when the water is perfectly still, and I just sit there and stare at it - it's so pretty.

The one thing I would say, (and again, it could be because of the trees and plants) is that if you're a person who doesn't want any hint of green or teal, then this probably isn't the color for you.

Take care,
Suz

That was super helpful, I have been over analyzing, going back and forth for months! So thank you for all the detail in your answer. I actually would like to see a bit of green in the water and also would like to at times have a soft gray blue water, so I think that settles it. Thanks again for your taking the time to answer. Sorry to horn in on your post Stone-Lotus, but thanks for asking the question ;)
