Which new light fixture in an old sta-rite niche?

Hi,

I have one single light for my ~30K gallon pool, a Sta-Rite Sunbrite 05502 120V light that hasn't worked since I bought the house, the housing is filled with water. Pentair bought Sta-Rite, discontinued the lights. I've contacted Pentair tech support and they no longer sell any lights that fit the Sta-Rite niche.

Other forum posts here have mentioned a preference to replace a fixture from the same brand light, but this is not an option. Does anyone know of universal lights that might fit the old niche? I've read Hayward might. Any others?

I'm draining my pool in a few weeks for tile and coping work and would love to tackle the light problem as well.

Thanks so much in advance!

Let’s see if @1poolman1 has ideas.
StaRite lights were SwimQuip before being purchased. There are some that are advertised as fitting SwimQuip, like this at Pool Supply Unlimited:

You might contact them, or J& J directly to see if it does fit that StaRite/SwimQuip niche.
There is one place advertising that light. The price, if they actually do have it, reflects its scarcity:

Hi Extrabitter, did you replace the light? I have the same old light you have and would like to replace it with something, I would love to hear what you selected.

Updating the thread for future research, as I just performed the install while the pool was empty for the tile replacement.

The niche turned out to be a 10" Hayward SP-600 niche (about 7.5" deep)

I replaced the light with a 120v J&J Electronics 400w incandescent, which cost about $300 from pool supply unlimited. I fully plan on replacing the incandescent with an LED when it dies, but at least the first season I'll use what came with it.

The fit worked great, plenty of room to wrap ~5-6 feet of cable around the light inside the niche. No complaints.
