I have a magic plastic valve that says it has a 2.5" spigot connection. Is this another way of saying the end will slide into a 2.5" piece of pipe?
Where can i buy 2.5 pvc fittings?

Google plumbing supply stores. You want the place a plumber goes, not a store that has a plumbing aisle. It looks like Ferguson is a chain by you. I'm sure there's a dozen others and you pass a couple a day and never give it a thought.
