What is the deal with Purple Leaf umbrellas?

Was about to pull the trigger on a 12' diameter round cantilevered umbrella. and did a bit more research and a reddit thread came up casting doubt on the website. which made me question it all... so started researching. contact info for the website is france

they are on amazon at quite a premium but sold by purpleleafpremium with a very chinese information.

A bit more searching shows Homedepot carries them. a little more expensive than the website though but maybe they're real... click on the warranty info/ assembly pdfs and it opens to a poor english single page PDF that lists an email to @purpleleafgarden.com. which of course that URL doesn't actually work. sketchy as Heck all the way around for a very highly ( and top consumer reports rated) umbrella.

i dont mind paying a bit of a premium but...

It is really hard to tell any more, the value vs. premium brands, their quality and reliability.

The amazon link has no product/SKU.
The Home depot link has model# as: PPLGLRRDT12GYWB

I don't know how to determine that the product is actually the same product from your links...

both product codes contain GLRRDT12KK the 2 letters after the 12 (size) must be color code. so the product codes are essentially the same... but considering the website is off, theres no reason they couldn't just be putting whatever... but there are plenty of reviews of people buying from the website and it being ok. i'm trying to get home depot to pricematch right now

Wait till you buy a Maytronics / Dolphin pool cleaner. Every store has a different version. I think its so retailers don't have to compete and can offer "exclusives"

If you wait 6 to 8 weeks the box stores will have them on clearance so the Halloween stuff can have the seasonal aisle.

The things are all made in the same factory and get different labels. Any premium differences are impossible to track down. The premium could have colored instructions rather than black and white. Just buy the umbrella you like wherever you find a good deal. Don’t believe any reviews (or a lack of bad reviews) on a self-hosted website (probably shouldn’t believe any reviews anyway).
