What is the BEST filter system to buy for an Intex Rectangular 18'X9'X52" Pool?

Help please. I bought an Intex rectangular 18'X9'X52" Pool and the filter it came with is not doing the job. I do not want to use a salt filter. I have heard the salt eventually will hurt the liner of the pool. What is the best Filter to buy for this type of pool?

 Welcome to TFP!!!

You terminology is a little off. You seem to be mixing 3 different pieces of equipment.

The pump moves the water
The filter ... filters the water ;)
and a SWG (what you called salt) generates chlorine so you do not have to add it every day.

So, what is it you are actually looking to replace?

FYI, there are 1000s of people here with SWG on their Intex pools with 0 issues. It is nonsense that the salt has any impact on the liner.

I'll assume you are asking about the pump / filter. I don't know what is the the absolute best. I've been happy with my Intex sand filters. It made a world of difference, I wished I abandoned the Intex cartridge filter sooner. I had the 16" model first. It recently developed a crack along the seam in the filter portion. I replaced it with the Intex 14" sand filter, just as happy with it. For the price and convenience they are hard to beat combo with the Intex pools.

Welcome to TFP!

Lots of folks upgrade to the intex sand filter/Pump combo and like it.

Thank you! I meant pump/filter system. Right now I have a Intex 110-120V Sand Filter Pump that came with the pool. It is not doing the job. I have seen where people buy the Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater System and also upgrade their sand filter pump and say that does a good job. I suggested this at a pool supply store and the employees there were the ones that said they do not suggest using a salt water system to anyone because it can over time harm the liner of the pool. That's the only reason why I didn't want to buy one, but if it does not eventually harm the liner of the pool, I will get one. If I upgrade my Sand Filter Pump, what size should I get for my 18x9x52 pool and is Intex the best brand when buying a pump/filter system or are there better options? Like I have heard of a Hayward brand. Does anyone know anything about it?

What makes you think it's not doing its job? If you are having a problem with algae and cloudy water but it is more likely a chemistry problem than it is a filter problem the sand filters tend to be pretty good.
