What is a good price to buy a Dolphin S200 new in the box from someone else?

Should I buy this? This isn't from a retailer. It's off craigslist. It was supposedly donated to a benefit and is still new in the box. I wonder if I'm missing something (i.e. warranty issues with Maytronics if I can't show a receipt, etc). I don't really want another maytronics product, but I'm in a bit of a bind. This seems like a decent deal for $750 considering they are advertised at $1,000 it $950.

Pete,

Not sure how old it is, but my S200 cost me $699 about two years ago.

You will not get any warranty, if that is important to you.

Assuming it actually is new in a box, and working, I would not pay more the $500

Thanks,

Jim R.

I don't know the manufacturer date on this unit. I have seen pictures of the box and it is never been opened. The days of getting this model for $700 from a dealer are long gone. I think Marina now sells them for $950 if they could get them in stock. The warranty is definitely important considering my Warrior SE just broke for the fourth time in less than 2 years. I see people selling used robotic cleaners online for around $500.

I hope the seller has a less shady name than SlipperyPete. :laughblue:

For reference, our goto supplier, Marina pools and Spas was selling the clones for $859 recently so the prices have come down a skootch. While I believe the whole charity/raffle thing, I don't believe $100 is worth having no proof of purchase which you'll need for the warranty. For $250 off I'd probably bite.

*edit. One clone is still $859, the other is $999. The S200s are listed at $1049, not sure if that's the old price last they had them, or the price of the next lot when they get them again.

lol. I did my google OPSEC. He seems legit. However, I'm passing on it b/c I verified that Maytronics will not warranty it. I've had too much trouble with my current one to not have a warranty.

Marina pools and Spas
I bought my current one from them. However, they have become too hard to contact. Nice people, but my cleaner recently had the motor go out. I think it was 33-34 days from the time I first contacted them until I received it back. I can't go for over a month without my cleaner again. I've shipped it off THREE times in 20 months and now it is broken again. Almost 10% of the time I've owned this cleaner, it hasn't been available to me. I either need to get a great deal on the new one and/or have it serviceable locally.
