Vacuum hose does not fit in suction port

Hi everyone: I have a robot that does an ok job but misses corners and wall sides occasionally so I got a manual vacuum. I bought a vacuum hose with 1.5 inch end. This is too big to fit in the suction port. The hose came with a 1.25 inch adapter which is too big for the port and won’t stay in. Am I not doing this properly (and freely admit I’m a noob) but it seems like my pool was built with Canadian piping using the metric system. I’m in New Jersey. Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks— Nick

Most folks are plugging their robots into 120 volt outlets nowadays, but I'm one of the dinosaurs that still uses a suction cleaner.

Are you saying the 1.25" adapter is too big? Can you measure the size of the suction port and/or post a pic.

My cleaner uses an adapter similar to the one below. I measured it and it starts out at about 1 3/8".

I had a similar situation with my vacuum hose not fitting in my skimmer port. I tried all kinds of adaptors with minimal success. Then I walked over to my other skimmer and my manual vacuum hose fit perfectly. Try your other skimmer port. I thought mine were the same but they weren’t… Go figure

A 'hose cone' adapter should do the trick.

Or if you get a vacuum lock for your side suction port (which you really should get to be up to code) the door's latch when open can latch onto the hose and make sure it won't go anywhere as well.

Obviously get whatever adapters/locks that work for your brand/widths.
