Hey guys I am trying to get some help figuring out my problem.

I have a Zodiac MX8 cleaner and runs really slow, and will not climb walls. On the manual it says it should take 20-25 seconds for the wheel to rotate 10 times and it barely spins.

I don't believe the issue is with the MX8 as it is new, but something with my filter or pump.

Here is a pic of my diverter valve which i really dont know how to use. The only way the Mx8 slightly moves is in the current position, but there is 0 pressure on filter.

If I put valve on middle pressure starts going up to 10 PSI but MX8 barely moves, and if I put all the way to the left it does not move at all.

The basket is clean, and water only fills up when its in middle, or left position not right (where mx8 slightly moves)

I am trying to determine what can cause this, and or where should I start! Thank you very much!

I accidently put Mx6 on title! It id an MX8

Re: Using MX6 not enough pressure?

Sounds like there must be a clog in the suction line to the right of the valve.

Where do you hook up your cleaner? Do you have a leaf canister for the cleaner?

I edited your title for you.

Or one of the MX8 hoses may be clogged. I got some plastic caught in one of mine, like the plastic that holds six packs together. Took me awhile to figure out why The Pool Cleaner was not working. After I removed the clog, happiness.

Also on the connection at the skimmer you should have a piece with springs on it(flow regulator) that you can adjust, it comes in the middle position, you could try putting it at 4 or 5.

The picture of your canister shows the lead hose hooked up to it and not the cleaner too, unless you have a 2nd float for it?

Yes that was my father that connected that wrong.

So when I unplug the cleaner from skimmer pressure goes up back up.

I took each line and inspected it one by one they are all clear. I took MX8 apart and it is clean. I cleaned leaf filter as well.

I thought maybe air was getting in through the hoses but i connected a standard 1 piece hose and same issue pressure drops to 0 even tho there is suction at the end of the hose but not enough to move MX8 properly. I also adjusted spring it has 3 settings and does not make difference.

Even when MX8 is not connected to end of hose pressure drops to 0, so i am assuming it is not MX8. I let air out of filter as well.

I connected it without leaf filter same issue.

I connected only 2 pieces of hose and it works properly, but it seems when the hose lengthens it drops pressure to 0? I am very confused

I am confused too as that does not make any sense.

Verify that all the pieces of hose do not have something stuck in them.

When the pressure drops, does the water start churning in the pump lid?

When the pressure drops the water does not churn. Its weird as soon as i unplug hose pressure goes up. Maybe both hoses are bad and letting air in?

I am trying to add a video of what the filter does non stop it seems to have endless air.

This is with a hose attached to skimmer

So i have been messing with this all morning and here are some things I noticed.

When there is nothing connected there is roughly 8psi in filter. When I connect the regulating valve it drops to around 7.5 when i connect the first hose section to 7

When i connect leaf catcher it drops to around 5

As i keep adding hose links it keeps dropping after a few pieces its at 0 psi there is still suction in line just not enough to properly power mx8.

I also noticed that on the diverter valve if i have it all the way left i assume its jets only? Theres no suction in skimmer, in middle theres light suction and all the way right its the most suction but still goes to 0 when everything is connected. It still has suction but not strong enough.

When i have diverter valve all the way right are the jets still supposed to be on? Because they are

Thanks again
