Using bromine granules in Hayward offline brominator

Has anyone tried making use of the bromine granules that end up either in the bottom of the bucket or inside the plastic bags that some vendors ship 1 inch tablets in lately? I'm concerned they may dissolve too quickly and raise pool level too high. The last bucket we ordered was over half broken/powdered tablets so there is a lot of it on hand and if usable would prefer not tossing out. Thanks for any feedback.

I imagine they would perform just as trichlor does - ie- the smaller the tab/piece the faster it erodes. Just as you mentioned.
You would want to be vigilant about monitoring Total Br & only put a little bit in there at a time *provided there’s a screen to prevent a clog from occurring. I assume you can adjust this dispenser?

Thanks for the reply. It's a Hayward CL220BR unit with a dial control valve that modulates the flow. I don't see it getting clogged since the full size tabs eventually get down to granule size as they dissolve. Extra monitoring makes sense as well as dialing back the flow setting while experimenting. One lesson learned here was to inspect the contents of these buckets upon receipt to ensure you're not paying for ground up tablets.
