Hi everyone ! 3 years after dismantling and discarding our 24' AGP , we are taking the plunge again due to a couple kids that have returned to the nest for the summer ( maybe 2 summers ) We decided on a basic Bestway 18 ft x 48" steel pro frame pool with fingers crossed it lasts 2 years . After reading ALOT of reviews on the Intex and Bestway pools , I am concerned the filter/pump that comes with the pool isn't powerful enough to filter properly. Also , after having a Hayward sand filter with our old pool , messing with filters doesn't sound as hassle free as our old setup . We don't want to invest a lot of money in this venture , soon as the kids are out of college we plan on downsizing our way to retirement .
But don't want to spend all summer dealing with filters and a pump that isn't sufficient enough to keep the pool clean .
a little info ... I live in SE South Carolina , pool will be set up in middle of yard , no trees overhead so lots of sunshine all day . Pool will be covered when not in use and I do plan on getting a skimmer , because the add on one we had for the old pool worked great at catching debris .
So is the package filter/pump sufficient enough to keep the pool clean ? Or will I have to keep it running longer and the extra filter and electrical costs cancels out the cost of getting a sand filter ? If I should upgrade to a sand filter is the Intex one decent and what size ?
Thanks !
