Before I put in the pool coping, I am trying to decide what to do with the skimmer lids?
1. Can use a “Hide” lid, which is s/s pan that accepts the same material as the coping (porcelain) to make a seamless cover. Pros: looks very nice and can be almost invisible. Cons: the lid will be heavy to lift every time you want to check the skimmers

2. is there an upgrade to the regular round plastic lid that looks kind of cheap when you are spending a fortune on coping and matching pool surround tile

3. stay with ugly plastic lid that looks worse each month with beating sun

I have pouralid covers for my skimmer and auto fill:
Which is same basic idea as the hide lids you link, but not quite as invisible. In particular there are finger holes to lift this out rather than the slot for a tool.
They make for a nice finish, but yes they are a lot heavier than a normal plastic cover. Unless you have really strong fingers you need too hands to open them, (compared with the plastic lids that can be lifted off with one finger). I think they were worth the effort for what should be a much more durable result. But it did take the masons quite a bit of time to cut and fit pavers to fill the covers.
