Umbrella holder - fits a little loose

I bought some “rescue tape” at Ace. Put the bottom section of your pole in the holder and grab the pole with your thumb marking the top of the hole. Pull it back out and mark your thumb location with a Sharpie. Dry off the pole and run two wraps of tape around the pole just below the mark. Test fit and see if that has tightened the fit up to your liking. Do the same at the bottom of the pole and that should eliminate play at the bottom as well. It’s a little trial and error, but I’ve got both my umbrella poles fixed this way.

Thanks Big E. I tried electrical tape this morning and it seemed to do the trick. A little trial and error just like you said.

I’ll keep the rescue tape in mind

The rescue tape will remain adhered in water. Electrical tape may come off in time, but you’ve got the right idea!

Nice and stable now and less worry about them flying out in a gust.

I took a 2" piece of PVC cut a channel out of it length wise and then used a heat gun to form it around the pole. Once I had a tight fitting collar I then sanded the edges so that it was tapered, works great I can provide pictures if anyone is interested
