I have a feeling this is a bad idea but I'm going to ask anyway:

My overflow goes to a 1" line that drains to a sort of inconvenient spot. Buried just alongside my pool is a 4" corrugated pipe (this style) which takes water from my downspouts and it drains way down into the woods behind the house. It would be awfully convenient if I could tie the overflow into this drain line.

I could probably drill a hole in the top of the drain line and slip the 1" inside. I'm not sure how I'd secure it (maybe with this stuff which someone recommended in a different thread) and I'd have a bunch of other concerns. But really I just want to ask if anyone has done this and has any words of advice, either a good way to make the connection, or a good reason not to!

Bad idea. Without a back flow preventer you run the risk of your downspouts emptying into your pool if the corrugated pipe gets blocked.
