Trying to find the correct skimmer basket

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find the correct skimmer basket for my skimmer. I have previously used the B203 skimmer, but they keep ripping along the top rim.

I've looked all over the skimmer and can't seem yo find anything that lools like a part number. Its a widemouth, but as far as the model/brand that's unknown.

In the first pic if you can see the rim that the basket sits, its about 6 inches across, and its like 4 inches deep (didn't measure those little groves going around, nor the 4 post looking things).

The b203 skimmer basket "fits" but it keeps ripping/tearing along the same rim in the same spot.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Please get out your measuring tape and measure the basket that fits AND the skimmer. I have someone that can help you but they will need this info.I will hold off on contacting them until you post the info.

I have never heard of a plastic basket ripping. Do you have a picture of one that failed?

You don't happen to be putting trichlor tablets in your skimmer basket, are you?

Jason, I have! The ones I bought from a certain store would break just like he is talking about. It is like the top "ring" would tear off. I went to the other store and got a basket that has lasted so far.

Pool store "L" sells these, they have ripped around the rim each time they give me one of these. They've given me like 4 replacements and ive purchased those twice.

I will have pics with a measuring tape of the skimmer tomorrow, its getting dark now.

My previous baskets that keeps ripping, but fit perfectly.

Is there a part number under that lid? or model number of the skimmer unit itself? how about the pool?

You have been using hayward skimmer baskets, so do we know it's a hayward skimmer or those are what fit?

Be sure to look on the outside of the skimmer unit as well as on the bottom of it where the pipe connects.

Something that may lead to a manual online and find the right part number for you.

Like funandsun said, look for a part number somewhere on the skimmer. However, the lid and measurements look very similar to the Hayward SP1090/SP1092 skimmer. The basket for that one has similar measurements to the B203 but its a more rigid and durable basket. The part number is SPX1096CA.

Again, it's better if you can find a part number. That way we know for sure what you have.

Hey! I had a Hayward 1094 skimmer on my pool and had exactly the same problem - although the basket would rip vertically, I would have to buy at least one basket per season (I am sure the replacement basket was from Hayward). My thought is that the skimmer basket when full places a lot of stress on the top rim, especially because it is suspended by the four "pucks". I rejuvenated my pool this year and got a Hayward 1091 because there was a crack in the skimmer body. The basket has about double the capacity of the 1094 and I am having no problems with it, and it works a little better. Unless you feel confident in changing the skimmer to a 1091 because of the liner and so on, next time you change the liner get the 1091 (same standard screw arrangement).

I had the same problem. I have at least 10 skimmer baskets with the rim cracked in the same place. I think I am Hayward sp1090 or 1092 I forget.

I use skimmer socks and have a 1.5 hp pump, so when the socks load up heavy from debris it creates a vaccum and negative pressure which is what cracks the basket ring. So I just monitor my sock load up more carefully now which should prevent the excessive vaccum. There should be a stamped or raised part number under the rim or at the bottom of the basket, unless its a cheap reproduction. I have some of them too from a local pool store. Surprisingly the repros last longer since they are made from a different plastic. Just didnt care for the non exact fit. Hope this helps.
