This is the standard on/off switch that was installed to control our led pool lights.
I'm wondering if there is a simple programmable timer that can easily be swapped in that box? Flipping the switch in different ways is how different light settings are achieved.

There are lots of different options of analog & digital timer switches

As well as wifi smart switches if you’re looking for something like that

You need to open the box and pull the switch to make sure there is a nuetral present. Is that the transformer right above the switch?
I'm guessing that's a gfci below the switch that then feeds the transformer so you should be good to swap to a wifi switch if desired. The plate around the switch is a universal, you'll likely need to get a new in-use cover for a Decora style switch unless they left the rest of the inserts for the one you are using.

Ok great... of course they didn't leave any other plates. lol

So what I thought I'd like to do is have the lights come on automatically at dusk and then go off around midnight maybe. Daily. Just love the way it looks, wether we are in the pool or not.
Any issues with this? I don't want to cause any problems by overusing the lights. I kinda doubt that 5-6 hours a day would hurt anything but just want to make sure.
I have no idea who hard or easy it is to replace these led lights when they burn out.

I also like the look of outdoor lighting and with everything being led the cost to operate is negligible. I have mine set on automation tied to alexa with a routine that turns on my outside lighting (pooll lights, patio lights, landscape lights, gazebo, string lights) from 30m after sunset thru 10pm
All of my wifi switches and receptacles are leviton. They are not the cheapest but i went with them as they are a long lived well known brand that I hope to have support from long term.

I cant tell from the picture what is existing, but for best wifi connection, I would want the switch box to be pvc instead of metal.
