Tiki Torch Fluid in Pool

Hello everyone,

I’m going to share as much info as possible so if this is wordy I apologize.

Pool: Salt water, vinyl liner, opened last week so was running.

Today, some extremely strong winds blew our outdoor patio set into the pool. A tiki torch jar filled with fluid was on the table and was blown into the pool as well.

I saw air bubbles floating up when I got in from work, however I’m not sure if the liner is damaged. I was able to easily remove the base of the table but need a hook for the rest.

Also, I did turn off the pump but it was probably running a while before I got home.

If the liner isn’t damaged what can I do to make it safe for my family again? I’m concerned about the tiki torch fluid. It was likely about 16oz.

I would assume that stuff is like a white gasoline or something? Most of it should evaporate. If oily, it will plug the filter. If you see an oil scum on the water surface, put tennis balls in the skimmer.

The torch fluid is likely going to be extremely diluted since it’s a relatively small amount compared to the thousands of gallons of water in the pool.
Oily, fatty stuff floats so tennis balls or a scum bug would probably handle most of it as Marty mentioned.
The scary/dangerous part is the glass from the table, glass in the pool can require a complete drain to fully remove in some instances as it can be impossible to see & poses a risk to swimmers if any is left behind.
If it hasn’t busted be extremely careful when removing it. I have seen table tops like that shatter into a million pieces with a light tap.
