Tennis balls ? in skimmer

I don’t have algae but getting this black sticky ring in my skimmer. Is that pollen? I remember using tennis balls, will that work ? I was going to order oil pads but they were $20 for 2. After ordering $75 in those new skim a round baskets. Waste of money. Then $38 on 2 sprinkles you put on return jets. They don’t work they pop off.

The black ring in the skimmer is normally lotions, sunscreens, body oils, etc that create a 'scum' ring.

Tennis balls work. They sell scum balls too --

I use hair nets in my skimmer and they work great for catching everything.

I been using woman stocking for years. It’s the same. ??? You still get the black ring.

he started after I put algae 60 in two weeks ago. ??? No one was swimming in pool yet.
