Hello,

I'm new here and looking to purchase a reliable accurate water testing kit. I recently ran across a K-2005C kit that is more reasonably priced than the K-2006C. I was wondering the difference between the one recommended here (K-2006C) and the one I came across online (K-2005C). Any and all information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
You will need to add the FAS-DPD test to properly test FC and CC if you get the K2005. The test costs about $30 plus shipping.

Better value is the TF100 or TFPro with the SmartStir. Check out tftestkits.net.

Hey J and Welcome !!!

The C has larger bottles and is a better value. The 5 does not have the powder fas/dpd chlorine test (k-1515). You can purchase a k2005C and then add the K-1515 as a stand alone and then they are identical.
The k1515 is imperative for chlorine ests. The other chlorine test both kits have is not very accurate and only tests to 5. We use it as an occasional spot test for 'is there chlorone in the water' and it does pretty good as a yes/no test.

+1 on the TFpro-salt from tftestkits.net. you'll need to buy the k-1766 salt test ($30) for both the k2005c and k2006c. Then those kits cost as much as the TFpro salt. The Tfpro salt also comes with a $45 stirring device for the same money that makes testing much easier and also more consistent.

The K-2005C does not have the FAS/DPD chlorine test and is limited to testing FC levels up to 10ppm. That is not sufficient for TFPC Methods.

You need the K-2006C or TFT Test Kits that include the FAS/DPD chlorine test.

Test Kits Compared

will get one of the ones mentioned by TFP
When doing your comparisons, be sure to look for the speed stir or smart stir as well. It makes mixing the samples MUCH easier. Some kits come with the stirrer included.
