I was going to takeoff the valve on our filter and realized we did not have the adapter wrench to remove it. After confirming the part number with Pentair, I started looking online to find a replacement. The replacements are around $250. I asked the pool builder if he had it and of course he said he didn’t. Not sure what happened to it but I don’t have it and I’m really not wanting to spend that much to replace it. Any thoughts out there as to what I might be able to use or a good substitute. The one for this filter is aluminum. Or if anyone knows where I could find one at discounted price…. it is a 9 inch wrench. Pentair part number 151608. Thanks.

The valve on top of a TA-XXXD is held on by a clamp, not threaded into the tank. That's what the "D" designation means. It was called the
TA-XX Deluxe to differentiate the model from the one that actually had the valve thread into the tank. Makes the install much easier with the D models.
If you are trying to remove the tank adapter the valve sits in, which is threaded into the tank, a good strap wrench, like this from Home Depot will do the job. I've used mine for many years.

You should not need to remove the threaded adaptor.

There is a plastic tool, but it might be a different size.

Check with Inyo pools to see if the plastic wrench will fit or measure your adaptor.

If you want to remove it, you can make a tool from a piece of plywood.

Just cut an octagon in the middle of the plywood and this will make a good removal tool.

2.744 cot(π/8) inches

If the sides are 2.744 inches, then the height should be 6.625 (6-5/8”).

The height is = side cot(π/8)

2.744 cot(π/8) inches = 6.6246 inches

It looks like the TA100D is the 8.5" size adaptor.

For an 8.5" height, the side should be 3.521 inches and the diagonal will be 9.2".

In any case, a strap wrench should work or you can make a tool fairly simply if you need to remove the adaptor.
