T104 Timer question..

i’m set to replace a 30 yr old T104 timer.

Not sure what small box is on the right.
do i need it still?

new timer doesn’t have one.

The box on the bottom with the knob is for freeze protection. The knob sets a temperature when the pump will turn on.

Yes, if you want freeze protection on the pump.

Update.. Was able to change out just the motor on the back, and see if that solved the issue..
lots easier..
waiting on the time now
