Sundek versus generic spray deck

We are in the final stages of our pool remodel. When our pool was built 13 years ago, we had Sundek installed around the pool. It held up well and only had to have it recolored two years ago. Now with the remodel, I would like to change the color and also build-up an area where water tends to pool and mildew forms. Our PB doesn't use the original Sundek (there is only one licensed applicator in the Houston area,) and I am concerned that what he uses may not hold up as well. Has anyone used Texture-Krete 2000? I also think it is called Color-Seal H2O. The installer is Innovative Concrete Technology. We are considering going through Sundek ourselves even though it will be more expensive, because we are worried that the other spray deck will be of lesser quality. Thanks.

While not the same product you're using, my parents had a deck installed 20 years ago with what I believe was marketed to them as Cool Deck. After about 10 years the texture started coming off in some areas, leaving just the flat smooth finish below. If we were to take a power washer it would probably blow off some of the texture. The texture looked like a knockdown texture you'd see on drywall.

I think with whatever you go with, trying to match the previous texture would be challenging.

Kool Deck is different from Sundek and can only be applied to new concrete. Sundek is an acrylic coating that can be reapplied over existing Sundek. We've had good luck with it, no issues with flaking or peeling, so we're just worried the application the PB wants to use might be inferior. I know Color-Seal H2O is an acrylic coating, so it would probably be similar. I guess it probably boils down to the quality of the application.

if something has worked for years I would 100% go back with the same stuff.. You pay for what you get.. how much will it cost in 5 years if the other stuff fails and you have to go back with Sundeck...
