Stuck Jandy Valve?

My wife asked me to set the spa to a low heat setting as it's getting cooler now. The filter pump was running its normal schedule and was turned on. Using the Pentair EasyTouch remote I put the system in spa mode and was able to set the temp as I normally would. I then turned the spa mode off and noticed that the vacuum did not resume moving. Eventually the filter pump shut itself off. I think I have a stuck valve and the filter pump has a safety shutoff? I recall that the valve below would automatically rotate when going in and out of spa mode. I tried to turn the valve manually but was not able to. Is there a way to manually move these to get them unstuck? The valve is only about 4 years old. Is there some maintenance I should be doing? Thanks for any input. I'm slowly learning how all this pool equipment works and lucky for me my pool keeps giving me learning opportunities. ??

There is a toggle switch at the front of the valve that I circled in red. If it is up, move it down. If it is down, move it up. Middle position is off. Maybe someone accidentally put the switch in off. See if the valve rotates using the toggle switch.

Manual Override, Power On (Jandy and should work for others)

You can also remove the handle, remove the 4 screws holding the actuator to the valve, put the handle on the valve stem, and then turn it manually.

Thank you! I called my wife and talked her through it over the phone. The switch was up and she switched it down. When she did the handle moved and I asked her what position it was in. She said it was in the same position as the picture. I thought that was strange. I guess the valve eventually moved??? I told her to move the switch back up and when she did the valve didn't move. She switched it down again and then back up and this time it did move. It sounds like the valve is intermittent. Does this mean it's going bad or do I just need to do some maintenance?

It is likely a bad microswitch. Read about repairing it in the link I gave you.

It is important to regularly use the actuators or they can get sticky. Especially in our heat

Use the toggle switches every so often to move the actuators.

Ajw22 - I found this old thread and it was exactly the information I needed in a bit of an emergency situation. Major cold/ice here in Tulsa this week and, of course, my pool decided to beg for attention. Both of my actuator valves (supply/return) are stuck and my spa drains into the pool when the freeze protection kicks on the system. I’ve been able to turn off the freeze protection and now I can manually operate the valves into the correct position before starting the system up again and running through the cold temperatures in a permanent freeze protection mode until it warms up again. You also saved me more time out in the freezing temps trying to figure out why those actuators aren’t operating properly. I can disconnect them and bring them inside or wait for some sunshine. Many thanks!!
