I've been really on top of my pool since I got it. I struggle with high TA and high PH. (Fill water high). I have the TF-100. I had the TA down around 90 but it and the PH crept up in the past 10 days or so. So I added MA and I'm aerating now.

Here are my latest readings:
FC: 3
CC: 0
PH: 8.2 (maybe higher?)
TA : 120
CYA: 40
CH: 375
Water temp 96!!!

When I tested today the water feels sort of sticky, even though it's perfectly clear.

I bet your PH is even higher than you think it is. I bet your water looks "flat" with no sparkle.

What you need to do is use Pool Math and add enough muratic acid to lower it to 7.8. Run the pump on high for about 15 mins and maybe even brush the pool to get is mixed up good. Test again and if is not down to 7.8 add more m.a. Keep doing this until you get a solid 7.8 reading. It might take a couple/few tries but it needs to be done. Once you see the 7.8 I would take it down to 7.5 to give you some working room. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies! I had already added 5c of MA using pool math before I posted. Kim, I had noticed my water wasn't sparkling over the weekend, so that's a good thing to look for in the future. I'm getting my chemical usage dailed in but being able to also just look at it and know its off is a good extra tool to have in the pool tool belt. My PH has been staying right at 7.5 for weeks, so I thought I finally had my TA under control. We haven't had any rain and it's been hot so I've had to fill with the hose which has high TA. I just checked my PH is down to 6.8. Im aerating to raise it tonight and I'll check my TA and PH again in the morning.

The water feels much better, thanks for the help! Kim the water is back to sparkling. I'd take a picture but it's drizzling out.
The TA is at 90 and ph ended up at 7.2 after aeration. Im going to get the TA down lower but I'm out of MA now and need to go to the store.

I have the same feel in my pool, also somewhat when i just washed my hands in my sink inside. I seen about adding salt & did pool math & got 286 lbs. for a 17,100 does that sound about right & will this do anything if you have metal railing, pool is approx. 12-13 yrs old?, Thanks

You should check the current salt level in the pool first. All forms of chlorine add salt, as well as muriatic acid & body sweat.

When I was ready to convert to using a SWG, I tested my water before I even bought any salt. Good thing, as I already had about 1200ppm of salt in there and would have over bought/added.

I ran my tests last night, not all so did all today. They are as follows (havent had salt tested)

FC 3.5
CC .05
TC 4
CH200
TA 80
CYA 45

Going to add a few lbs of Baking soda for TA, water still sticky somewhat.
I have a post on dirt on bottom but since I started using nylons on both skimmer basket & return pretty much but a small spot or so.(thought may have been algae).
I have zeobrite in filter & called manufacturer & talked to a tech and he suggests putting Approx. 25 lbs. of pea gravel in filter, stir zeobrite up 1st with a hose then add gravel then backwash 2-3 x's, says with a 1.5 hp pump & a 20 inch filter it probably is blowing stuff back through so try this 1st otherwise bigger filter for my 17,200 gallon above ground.

Your TA is fine where it is.

Is the CC a typo? Your test kit is not capable of 0.05 resolution.

FWIW- I have a 1.5HP pump on a 21" sandfilter using pool sand, and have no issues with 'blowing stuff back through".
