I just received my Stenner Classic 25psi 10gpd pump for chlorine. I've got 2 questions (but I'm sure more are coming)
  • The Stenner kit included everything but the check valve. Is the check valved really needed? If so, can the pump tube be temporarily be used to pinch off the back pressure until I get a check valve?
  • I took the old Pentair Rainbox chlorinator apart for cleaning and got to thinking about the diverter tee. Instead of using the chlorinator's drain for the Stenner injection, what about caping both openings and using the 1-1/2" NPT as my injection point? I wanted to keep the old chlorinator for emergencies. However, I read about safety issues with someone unfamiliar with the system dropping a few tablets without turning off the liquid chlorine. Should I be concerned about that and, therefore, should cap off the diverter tee? The tab chlorinator could easily be reassembled albeit not conveniently.
TFP has been a wonderful resource and answered so many of my questions without having to ask.

I never found a check valve to be necessary. The inherent design of a peristaltic pump cuts off flow when the pump stops because the rollers basically pinch the tubing preventing flow in either direction.
