East Texas
Hello!
We do not close our pool in East Texas during the winter so am starting this season from that perspective. During the winter we would run the pump every so often but that is basically it. This spring we have had dust storms, pollen, the robotic vacuum broke, and the pool is suffering.
I just got in my TFT replacement regents, new salt test, and have fresh chemicals on hand to turn this around.

Here are my current results:
pH- 8.2
Chlorine - 0
Salt - 1200
CH - 175
TA - 200
CYA - 20 ish

I have salt, calcium chloride, stabilizer, and bleach on hand. I assume I should start with salt and bring that up. After that what steps do you suggest? I do have some algae and have been brushing and vacuuming daily now with new EVO 614iQ. I suspect I will be in the slamming phase at some point but unsure at what point that happens. Do I get it "balanced" first or slam first and then balance.

Here are my finding for what to add following the Old School Pool Math:
salt - 8 (40 lb) bags 11 lbs
bleach (10%) - 3 quarts 2 cups
muriatic acid - 2 quarts
calcium chloride - 36 lbs
stabilizer - 9 lbs 3 oz

Thanks again for being a valuable resource!

Get your CYA to 30 and lower your pH to 7.4 and start the SLAM Process

You can add salt and raise your CYA once the SLAM is complete.

CYA first and immediately then I personally would raise my chlorine level using liquid chlorine and then SLAM.
You can add any needed salt while the SWG is still "off", and then deal with the other levels.
Next work on setting the SWG up to maintain the desired level. Remember it works slowly so we want to protect the water from algae during that time.

should I raise it to 70 or just the 30-40 range?

Just 30 for now. Follow the SLAM process first, then a week+ down the road when you are clear and pass all 3 SLAM exit criteria, you can bump up CYA to 70 and adjust the rest of your #s.
