I just wanted to put it out there to people who close up the hot tub for the winter - you may want to open the cabinet to see if you have any mice or rats living in it.
We are in the process of getting rid of ours, it's 20 YO and it hasn't been working for about 8 years. I was going to put new pumps in once I retired and get it back to almost new. A tree branch put a hole in our deck on Jan 1 and it'll cost us almost as much to put the pumps in (and have 20 YO electronics) as it'll cost us just close the hole and put a deck in it's place. In the years I had it running (~12 years) I never had any issues with mice or rats living in it. Even after I stopped using it I didn't think I was having issues and then I realized I did. I opened the tub today to remove the electrical supply wires so the contractor can do his work and saw that basically whatever had a good time burrowing holes in the foam. There would be no way to disinfect the tub from the stuff mice and rats may carry.
It may not be a concern with tubs that are used all the time in the winter but if you do winterize it maybe think about just opening up the skirt to see if you need to do something about visitors..
