Hello, We have started to build. (yay) The plan includes three 2' sheer descents from a 3' high wall. The builder uses Jandy products and the type of descent is not specific in the contract. I was only aware of the cascade descents, but recently discovered the Rain descent on the Jandy website and my husband and I both like the look. The main reason I want the falls is to have the soothing sounds of running the water. However I do not want the noise level to be too loud. I have read that the Rain may be louder. There is a youtube video on both and the rain is louder, but I am not sure if that is the placement of the mic. Other than that I can not find much on the Rain style.

Any feedback or suggestions on the pros and cons of the cascade vs Rain descents or descents in general?

P,

I would suggest that you have your pool builder show you some that he has already installed..

I say this for two reasons...

1. It would be great to see in person..

2. Installing sheer descents takes much more engineering that most people would think. Often they require bigger pipes and special pumps so that they look the way you envision... you need to make sure your pool builder has the ability to do this before your pool has been completed.

One other thing to know about waterfalls in general, is that they cause aeration which will constantly increase the pool pH level. I see you also have a Saltwater pool (which I love) but the SWCG will also cause the pH to increase. So it would be very important to have the ability to control the sheers from the equipment pad using a Jandy style valve.

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.
