I bought this intex sand filter/pump 3 years ago. It ran with no problem all this time and this season it just quit working right in the middle of running it; it wasn't raining or any adverse weather that could have damaged the pump. So, I looked for ideas or suggestions for troubleshooting it on the internet. So, far they say to unscrew the plug and clean it up or stick long screwdriver into the motor and try to spin the motor to dislodge it if it was stuck. I did both of them and still it won't start. Then, I did more search on google and it brought me here. What should I do? Replace the filter/pump plug assembly?

Any help or hints will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does it power on? Any error codes? Is there any humming coming from the unit? Verify the electrical outlet, you are using is working or try another? Make sure the GCFI is not tripped? Any rust or corrosion on the plug or outlets?

I've submitted to the fact that owning and properly maintaining a pool is a fair amount of work and a fair amount of money. But I like putting in the work and I can't do it right unless I spend the money. The reality of the situation is that these types of pumps and filters weren't made to last forever and are also effectively unrepairable. They also take a beating sitting outdoors in the sun all day, all year in some peoples case.

I am something of a tinkerer so I'd probably find any screws I could on the pump assembly and start tearing it apart to see if I can spot anything obviously bad, while taking pictures of how I tore it apart along the way in case I want to put it back together because I found something. If you haven't fixed it by now from giving it a good kick I'd recommend simply going out and getting a new one so you can keep enjoying your pool for the season. Not much of a technical answer but I believe it is a practical, realistic answer.
