We were given a hardsided pool last fall. We drained the water from the pump and filter and removed some of the sand from the filter to be able to move it. It sat open all winter and setting it up next weekend. The equipment was only used for one or two seasons (can't remember now). Two questions:
1) Would there be a good reason to replace all of the sand now? If not, is there a way I can figure out how much to add?
2) I was inspecting everything this morning and noticed this crack. Will this effect it? Other clamps in good condition and it's still held tightly.
Thank you for your help!

That cracked part on the lower end is the diffuser. Unfortunately it's not a replaceable part by itself. You can order the top housing as noted in the link below, but by the time you do that, and any other internal items along the way, you might as well just order a new MPV.

As to the sand, it depends on what the previous owners may have added it it. Sand doesn't just go bad from filtering water, it's the pool store junk people add that can mess it up.
