We are looking at setting up a second pump for our pool that would be for running other items off. Has anyone done something like that? Was looking at maybe the smaller pumps used for the soft-sided or blow-up pools. We don't get a lot of leaves in our pool so a suction-side vacuum works fine for us that we run once or twice a week (depending on how much grass the kids drag in). When not being used to clean, we'd like to have a fountain that we can turn on during the summer to cool the pool or run through our solar heating tubes to warm up.

A manual vacuum requires a filter to catch all that grass. So you'll need to use the main pump for vacuuming.

@Richard320 We saw this shortly after I posted which is kindof what we were thinking something similar but you have a point and might need to figure out how to do a sock on the inline canister to help with smaller things like grass.

I'm trying to figure out if we need a pump as powerful as our main pump(like in the video) or if the smaller ones like this for soft-sided pools would work Amazon.com : RoofWorld 110V Cartridge Pool Filters Pump Above Ground Pools, Electric Clear Swimming Pool Filter Pump, Fit for Above Ground Pools Cleaning Tool+Filter Cartridge : Garden & Outdoor
Here's the type of solar panel it would be running water through Amazon.com : Fafco Solar Bear Economy Heating System for Above-Ground Pools : Swimming Pool Solar Heaters : Garden & Outdoor.
