I'm posting this for informational purposes in the event anyone else is experiencing the same problems I was with the Pentair Screenlogic2 Wireless connection. The one I have is the Pentair 522104 Screenlogic2 Interface & Wireless Connection Kit:
I initially got this system during a complete automation control system replacement thanks to a lightning strike during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. I'm on the second wireless connection kit as the original installed in 2017 bit the dust after about 1.5yrs of use in 2019. The failure turned out to be the outside antenna/transceiver unit. Luckily the Wireless Connection Kit can be purchased separately for a great deal cheaper than the entire Screenlogic2 kit in the above link (Pentair 522620...can be found for around $150).
Anyway, I've always experienced intermittent connectivity issues that would sometimes resolve on their own and other times would require that I restart everything: the inside unit, routers, modems, switches and the outside EasyTouch panel. Literally everything. And even then it wouldn't always resolve and I'd just give up and then seemingly overnight the system would connect and all would be right with the world, until it happened again, usually several times a week. I just chalked it up to being a terrible product (lets face it, even when it's working correctly it's still not the best product and I can think of lots of easy ways it could have been implemented better).
Long story short (I know, too late) I was troubleshooting it again recently and went so far as to try and reposition the outside antenna in hopes of getting more reliable performance. After doing so I couldn't get any connection whatsoever and the outside transceiver green LED just blinked 5sec on/5sec off (it's my understanding this means lost connectivity) even though I had moved it even closer to the inside unit with a clear line of sight. The inside unit did it's normal green pwr LED fast blink as well. After over an hour messing with it I got frustrated and just knocked the inside unit off the shelf it occupied with many of my other wireless gadgets.
Now, if you're like me you've probably got all sorts of wireless devices, hubs, routers, switches in your home and they probably all occupy a small shelf or closet, crammed all together. Once my frustration launched the indoor transceiver off the shelf it remained hanging from it's plug, still powered, and about 2 or 3 feet from all the other devices/hubs on the shelf...and now all the lights Rx/Tx were glowing in a symphony of communication with the outside unit which I confirmed with both my Android device and windows laptop.
It was radio interference from a mySmartBlinds wireless bridge that allows my lazy fat butt to use Alexa to control the blinds on a wall of windows that, ironically enough, overlook my backyard and pool. It's a little puck that doesn't even require access via Ethernet cable to the router or switches and communicates with the smartblinds at, you guessed it, around 915Mhz, within the same range the Screenlogic uses. The offending puck can literally go anywhere else in the house but I just co-located it with all my other wireless and electronic do-dads. It's now in a different location away from the Screenlogic transceiver.
No more communication issues
