Salt finish on the pool decking - too slippery?

We're scheduled to have concrete pool decking poured on Saturday. We were thinking we'd do a salt finish, but the pool builder says it would need to be broomed with salt over it if we want that, since without the broom it would be smooth for pool decking. Is this true? I've seen pictures of salt finishes around pools that don't have a brushed texture and are more matte.

Most I have seen are not brushed and just salted... I think it looks better not brushed, Its concrete not tile...

And it is your pool not the pool builder, tell them what YOU want and tell them he can have a broomed finish on his pool deck :)

I'd have the PB show you an in-person sample of what he means by "broomed with salt over it" to make sure something is not being lost in translation. I completely agree that a salt finish deck doesn't generally have brush marks like brushed concrete does. Nor is it the look I think would look best with the salt marks.

We have a salt finish and it is not slippery at all - my neighbor has a fine broom finish that ended up being very slippery and he had to add a top coating with shark bite grip additives to get it to be safe...

If you like the look of the good old salt finish it should be very safe as far as the slip factor - those holes and divots in the surface keep the water from forming a smooth slippery skin.
