Salt Chlorine Generator On Above Ground?

Happy shopping!

I added a SWCG last summer. While I only had it for about the last 2 months of our swim season, I loved not having to worry about the daily chlorine add. Because I had been following TFP methods for years, I did not see much of a change to my pH. I wish I would've gotten one when we installed the pool. It was an option, but I hadn't found TFP at that time and didn't realize what a benefit it would've been. I'm thinking if I would've done the SWG from the beginning, I may have never found TFP, so in that respect I'm glad I didn't do it because I love TFP!

Yes. I used one for the last 2 years on my small intex pool. I bought a new intex for this summer and will use one with it as well. I don't think I'd have a pool without one. I love being able to go off on vacation for a week and come back to a clear/clean pool.

I love, LOVE my SWG for my above-ground pool. Now I do not worry about going on vacation and leaving my pool.

Been using one for years, only down side is all the Intex Pools we've had rust after about 2 years. But I love not having to do any real maintenance other that vacuum. Looking to see if I can find a Resin frame so I don't have to worry about that. Right now we have a 20' x 52" and just love the salt water.

A lot of people have Intex pools rust in a few years, with or without a SWCG. I'm not certain you can say the SWCG is what caused your pool to rust.

Obviously Intex knew they had a quality issue, because in the newer XTR series pools they powder coat the inside of the legs in addition to the outside. In the older pools only the outside of the pool legs was coated, the inside was bare steel.

Yep much easier than daily chlorine. Just be aware that your pump has to be running in order for the salt cell to be working. Since I have a single speed 1HP Pump I only run my pump for 3 hours (5,000 gal pool). And maybe weekly add about 2 cups of bleach to supplement the salt. If you want to avoid that and you have a larger pool look into a 2 speed pump to save energy.
