Hey all I have this new 450 gal spa not attached to pool. I'm getting ready to bring online just waiting on a couple of parts.
In the meantime, I have been going crazy on wether I should do Saltwater like my pool or Bromine. I'm not really considering regular chlorine because it is more irritable to skin/eyes and trunks.
I have read the concerns of saltwater over producing chlorine with the off gasing damaging metals or the cover faster and evening dulling the acrylic shell.
I have also read how Bromide converts to bromine etc and you still need to add a non-chlirine shock etc...seems like more work, more storing stuff etc.
Wanted to hear from both side of those of you who use Bromine over chlorine or salt, and those who use Salt and how long you have been using it and if you have any issues?
Would you do what your doing all over again?

Thanks!

Saltwater using a SWG and chlorine is the same. The only difference is the source of the chlorine. The chlorine is the same.

More people here use chlorine in their spas…

What brand hot tub did you purchase?

A Saltwater tub IS regular chlorine - same same.

I go back and forth with a SWG for my hot tub - it would have to be a drape over, I don't have the option to add a built in on.

I went with Chlorine for my tub. It is what I use in my pool (well, my pool is a saltwater pool, but it is the same thing) so I use the same tests, chemicals, etc in my pool as in my tub.

The hot tub is hard on suits, but that is more a function of the jets and the temperature than the chlorine. (any more so that that in a pool)
