Hey DJ !!! For the first 5 or so years I would fill a 55 gallon garbage can with hose water and pump that out after the pool, being worried about the salt myself (pre TFP) For the next several years I figured the pump was old anyway and I got lazy and just hosed it off.
The electric connection at the pump is what failed eventually, because it lost its seal and let water (any water) in. 10 years out of any kind of rubber/gaskets is more than fair.
